2024 Women's Tour Down Under
The 2024 Santos Women's Tour Down Under was a women's cycle stage race held in and around Adelaide, South Australia from 12 to 14 January 2024. It was the seventh edition of Women's Tour Down Under. The race was the first event of the 2024 UCI Women's World Tour, the second year it was a part of the World Tour. The race was won by Australian rider Sarah Gigante of AG Insurance–Soudal. 2024 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2024 UCI Women's World Tour is a competition that includes twenty-seven road cycling events throughout the 2024 women's cycling season. It will be the ninth edition of the UCI Women's World Tour, the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition begins with the Women's Tour Down Under from 12 to 14 January, and finishes with the Tour of Guangxi on 20 October. Events The race calendar for the 2024 season was announced in June 2023, with twenty eight races initially scheduled. The calendar is largely similar to 2023, with the dates of races moved to accommodate the 2024 Summer Olympics and 2024 Summer Paralympics. Ally Wollaston
Ally Wollaston (born 4 January 2001) is a New Zealand professional track racing cyclist and road cyclist riding for . Early life Wollaston got into cycling through her family as they were helping out with the St Peter's School Cycling Team. Wollaston was educated at St Peter's School, and is currently a law student at the University of Waikato. Career Wollaston was part of the New Zealand team that won the team pursuit race in Hong Kong as part of the 2019–20 UCI Track Cycling World Cup. She also won gold in the individual pursuit at the 2019 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships. Wollaston began racing professionally on the road for in August 2021. Melissa Hoskins (born 24 February 1991) is an Australian former track and road racing cyclist. She topped the general classification in the 2012 Tour of Chongming Island. She was a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit team that finished in fourth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hoskins announced her retirement from professional cycling on 2 May 2017. The King of the Mountains (KoM) is an award given to the best climbing specialist in a men's cycling road race; in women's cycle racing, Queen of the Mountains (QoM) is used. While the title may be given to the rider who achieves the highest position over several designated climbs in a single-day road race, it is more usually applied to stage races (for example, the Grand Tours, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and smaller races like the Tour of California) where points are accumulated over the duration of the whole race. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (born 23 August 1995) is a Danish professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career As a junior, she competed at the 2012 UCI Road World Championships and the 2013 UCI Road World Championships.
