The Canadian province of Saskatchewan held municipal elections on November 13, 2024. Listed below are selected municipal mayoral and city councillor races across the province. An "(X)" is listed next to the incumbent's name, where it applies. Election date In August 2021, Saskatchewan's Chief Electoral Officer Michael Boda proposed changing election dates in the province in 2024, given that the provincial and municipal elections were, as in 2020, schedule to take place within three weeks of each other. Boda recommended changing the 2024 municipal election date from November to May. However, the provincial government declined to make changes, opting to keep the municipal election date as November 13, 2024. Chad Bachynski
Chad Bachynski is a Canadian politician who is currently the mayor of Regina, Saskatchewan. Bachynski was elected in the 2024 Saskatchewan municipal elections and is Regina's 36th mayor. Before politics Prior to running for office, Bachynski, who calls Regina his hometown, worked as a mechanical engineer and as a manager at SaskEnergy. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, and worked in private industry in Regina before moving to SaskEnergy, originally as a pipeline engineer. Bachynski was also at one time a DJ. Political career Bachynski launched his campaign for the Regina mayoralty in September 2024, entering the race to challenge incumbent Sandra Masters. Swift Current
Swift Current is the fifth largest city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is situated along the Trans Canada Highway west of Moose Jaw, and east of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Swift Current grew 6.8% between 2011 and 2016, ending up at 16,604 residents. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137. History Swift Current's history began with Swift Current Creek which originates at Cypress Hills and traverses of prairie and empties into the South Saskatchewan River. Charlie Clark is a Canadian politician and the current Mayor of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was first elected mayor in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020. Early life Clark grew up in British Columbia and studied in both Toronto and Winnipeg. He earned bachelor's degrees in conflict resolution and education and a master's degree in environmental studies. Clark worked in mediation, restorative justice, adult education, and community economic development. Cynthia Marie Block is a Canadian politician and the current mayor of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Block was elected in the 2024 Saskatchewan municipal elections and is the city's 29th mayor. Gordon Wyant
Gordon S. Wyant, KC (born 1957) is a lawyer and politician from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Wyant currently serves as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan since winning a by-election in 2010. He resigned from Cabinet after announcing on August 25, 2017 that he would be running for the Saskatchewan Party Leadership to replace Premier Brad Wall. Wyant lost the leadership election to Scott Moe. When Moe was sworn in as premier, he appointed Wyant as Deputy Premier and Minister of Education. Wyant previously served as a member of Saskatoon City Council from 2003 to 2010. Donald James Atchison (born March 1, 1952) is a Canadian politician who was Mayor of Saskatoon, the largest city in the central Canadian province of Saskatchewan, from 2003 to 2016. Joanne Sharon Crofford (born October 29, 1947) is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly, MLA for Regina Rosemont, Saskatchewan, and a member of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party.
