2024 PBA Governors' Cup
The 2024 PBA Governors' Cup, also known as the 2024 Honda PBA Governors' Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the first conference of the 2024–25 PBA season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The 22nd edition of the Governors' Cup started on August 18 and ended on November 8, 2024. The tournament allowed teams to hire foreign players or imports with a height limit of 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m). Format The following format was observed for the duration of the conference: *The teams were divided into 2 groups, based on the previous season's conference finish on a weighted average, with 40% for the Commissioner's Cup, and 60% for the Philippine Cup. RPTV (TV Channel)
RPTV is a free-to-air television network in the Philippines. It is jointly owned and operated by TV5 Network, Inc., and Nine Media Corporation, with Radio Philippines Network (RPN) serving as its free-to-air broadcaster. RPTV was established through a content distribution, sales, and marketing agreement between TV5 (under its parent company MediaQuest Holdings) and Nine Media. Under this arrangement, TV5 provides programming and related services to Nine Media through its existing airtime lease agreement with RPN. PBA Season 49 Draft
The PBA season 49 draft was the 39th edition of the PBA draft and the draft for the 2024–25 PBA season. It was held at Glorietta Activity Center in Makati on July 14, 2024, marking its first time at the venue since 2004. The league determined the drafting order based on the performance of the member teams from the 2023–24 season, with the Converge FiberXers, which finished last, picking first. The Commissioner's Cup final ranking comprises 40% of the points, while the ranking of the Philippine Cup is 60%. Yeng Guiao
Joseller "Yeng" Medina Guiao (born March 19, 1959) is a Filipino professional basketball head coach, politician, commentator and sports commissioner. He is currently the head coach of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of the Philippine Basketball Association. He previously served as the interim head coach of the Philippines men's national basketball team, Philippine national team. The Converge FiberXers are a professional basketball team owned by Converge ICT. The team competes in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The franchise began after acquiring the former Alaska Aces franchise on March 23, 2022. History Formation On February 16, 2022, Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) announced that the Alaska Aces would leave the PBA at the end of the 2021 Governors' Cup.
