2024 National Bank Open
The 2024 Canadian Open championships (branded as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers for sponsorship reasons) is a pair of outdoor hardcourt tennis tournaments that took place from 6–12 August 2024. The men's tournament took place at the IGA Stadium in Montreal and the women's event took place at the Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. It was the 134th edition of the men's tournament—a mandatory Masters 1000 event on the 2024 ATP Tour, and the 122nd edition of the women's tournament—a mandatory WTA 1000 event on the 2024 WTA Tour. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a type of surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Sobeys Stadium
Sobeys Stadium, formerly Rexall Centre and Aviva Centre, is a tennis stadium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located on the grounds of York University's Keele Campus. The 12,500-capacity Stadium Court is the largest stadium at the tennis complex. Sobeys Stadium is the venue for the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, a professional tournament on the ATP World Tour and WTA circuits, held annually. Beginning 2021, Sobeys Stadium hosts the men's tournament in odd-numbered years and the women's event in even-numbered years, with the other gender's event held in Montreal in those years. 4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Erin Routliffe
Erin Hope Routliffe (born 11 April 1995) is a New Zealand professional tennis player who previously represented Canada. She became world No. 1 in doubles on 15 July 2024. Routliffe won a major doubles title at the 2023 US Open partnering Gabriela Dabrowski. She became the second New Zealand woman to win a major in the Open Era, after Judy Connor won the women's doubles title at the 1979 Australian Open. Gabriela "Gaby" Dabrowski (; , ; born April 1, 1992) is a Canadian professional tennis player. She reached her career-high doubles ranking of world No. 3 on 15 July 2024. A three-time Grand Slam champion, she won the 2023 US Open doubles title, partnering Erin Routliffe, and also the 2017 French Open mixed-doubles title, with Rohan Bopanna, becoming the first Canadian woman to win a senior Grand Slam title, and the 2018 Australian Open with Mate Pavić. Joe Salisbury ( ; born 20 April 1992) is a British professional tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles. He is a six-time Grand Slam champion, having won the 2020 Australian Open and the 2021, 2022 and 2023 US Opens in men's doubles with Rajeev Ram, as well as the 2021 French and US Opens in mixed doubles alongside Desirae Krawczyk.
