2024 Men's FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers
The 2024 Men's FIH Olympic Qualifiers was the final stage of the qualification for the men's field hockey event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. It was held in Muscat, Oman and Valencia, Spain between 13 and 21 January 2024. Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand and Spain qualified for the Olympics. Format Teams not qualifying from the continental qualification tournament were participating in this tournament according to the respective spots received by the FIH. The 16 teams were split into two eight-team tournaments. In each tournament the eight teams were divided into two four-team pools. After the round-robin stage the top two teams advanced to the semifinals. The top three teams of each tournament qualified for the Olympics. Field Hockey At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics was the 25th edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. It took place from 27 July to 8 August 2024. All games were played at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Paris, France. The Netherlands took home gold after a finals victory over Germany for their third title, while India took the bronze medal. Competition schedule In the preliminary round, games were played on two pitches. Competition format The twelve teams in the tournament were divided into two groups of six, with each team initially playing round-robin games within their group. Following the completion of the round-robin stage, the top four teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals. The two semi-final winners met for the gold medal match, while the semi-final losers played in the bronze medal match. Samuel Ian Ward (born 24 December 1990), known as Sam Ward, is an English field hockey player who plays as a forward for Old Georgians and the England and Great Britain national teams. He competed at three Olympic Games. Biography Ward played club hockey Leicester, Beeston (3 spells), Loughborough Students. It was while at Beeston that he played for England in the 2014 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. He left Beeston for Holcombe and was selected for Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games. He represented England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. After his third and final spell at Beeston, Ward joined Old Georgians in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for the 2018–19 Men's Hockey League season. Nick Bandurak
Nicholas Kimon Bandurak (born 14 December 1992) is an English field hockey player who plays as a forward for East Grimstead and the England and Great Britain national teams. Biography Bandurak played club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League for Cannock until 2015, when he joined Premier Division club Holcombe. While at Cannovk, Bandurak made his England U21 debut when he played in the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup Men 2013 in India. Bandurak made his senior England debut versus Spain, in the FIH Pro League on 4 February, 2022 and won a bronze medal with England in the Men's tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and participated in the 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup. Zachary Andrew David Wallace (born 29 September 1999) is an English field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Bloemendaal and the England and Great Britain national teams. William James Cameron Calnan (born 17 April 1996) is an English field hockey player who plays as a forward for Dutch Hoofdklasse club HDM and the England and Great Britain national teams. He competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Biography Calnan, born in London, went to school at St Andrew's School in Woking and Cranleigh School, Surrey and studied at Kingston University, where he graduated with a degree in business management. Jack Laurence Waller (born 28 January 1997) is an English field hockey player, who plays as a defender or midfielder for Dutch Hoofdklasse Club Pinoké and the England and Great Britain national teams. Gao Jiesheng
Gao (or Gawgaw/Kawkaw) is a city in Mali and the capital of the Gao Region.
