2024 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Soccer Team
The 2024 Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer team represented Marshall University in men's College soccer in the United States, college soccer during the 2024 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 46th season the university fielded a men's varsity soccer program. The Thundering Herd, led by eighth-year head coach Chris Grassie, played their home games at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex as members of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC). The Thundering Herd finished 9-1-6 in the regular season, including 4-0-5 in conference play to finish 2nd in the conference. The Herd would advance to the SBC Conference Tournament Championship game in Morgantown, WV versus West Virginia. The final was a draw after extra time, but WVU claimed the tournament title with a 6-5 win in penalties. The Herd finished the season ranked 8th in the RPI but was awarded the 13th seed in the NCAA Tournament. Chris Grassie
Chris Grassie (born 21 September 1978) is an English Association football, football coach who is currently the head coach of the Marshall University Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer, men's soccer team. During his tenure as coach of the Herd, he led the program to 3 Conference USA trophies, 1 Sun Belt Conference trophy, and the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, 2020 NCAA National Championship. Playing career As a player at Alderson Broaddus University, Alderson Broaddus, Grassie was named to the all-conference team multiple times and was a team captain.
