2024 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 35th European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held from 2–5 May 2024 in Rimini, Italy. The competition served as Olympic qualification for one individual berth, which was won by Belgium's Maellyse Brassart. Balance Beam
The balance beam is a rectangular artistic gymnastics apparatus and an event performed using the apparatus. The apparatus and the event are sometimes simply called "beam". The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is BB. The balance beam is performed competitively only by female gymnasts. The Apparatus The beam is a small, thin beam that is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. It is usually covered with leather-like material and is only four inches wide. Balance beams used in international gymnastics competitions must conform to the guidelines and specifications set forth by the International Gymnastics Federation ''Apparatus Norms'' brochure. Several companies manufacture and sell beams, including AAI (USA), Janssen-Fritsen (Europe) and Acromat (Australia). Abigail "Abi" Martin (born 19 April 2008) is a British artistic gymnast and women's national team member. She represented Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games and was part of the team which won silver at the 2024 European Championships. As a junior she was selected to attend the 2023 Junior World Championships. Early life Martin was born in Paignton in 2008. She began gymnastics at age 5. Junior gymnastics career 2022 Martin competed at the 2022 DTB Pokal Team Challenge in Stuttgart where she helped the British team finish sixth. Individually she finished fifth on floor exercise. Alice Kinsella
Alice Nicole Kinsella (born 13 March 2001) is an English artistic gymnast and member of the British national team. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the team event. Kinsella was also part of the British squad which achieved a record silver medal in the team event at the 2022 World Championships and gold at the 2023 European Championships. She won a Commonwealth Games title as part of England's gold-winning team all-around squad of 2022. Georgia-Mae Fenton (born 2 November 2000) is an English artistic gymnast and a member of both the British national gymnastics team and the England Commonwealth Games gymnastics squad. She is the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth champion on uneven bars, and a member of the gold medal-winning England team in 2022. Ruby Grace Evans (born 17 March 2007) is a Welsh artistic gymnast and a member of the British national team. She was part of the silver-medal winning team at the 2024 European Championships and is a five-time Northern European champion. She represented Great Britain at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Becky Downie
Rebecca Lauren Downie (born 24 January 1992 in Nottingham) is a British artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008, 2016, and 2024 Summer Olympics. She is a double European champion (2014 and 2016) and 2014 Commonwealth Games champion on the uneven bars as well as the 2019 World silver medallist. Elisa Iorio (born 21 March 2003) is an Italian artistic gymnast. She was a member of the historic teams that won silver at the 2024 Olympic Games and bronze at the 2019 World Championships. Manila Esposito (born 2 November 2006) is an Italian artistic gymnast. She was a member of the silver medal winning team at the 2024 Olympic Games where she also won a bronze medal on the balance beam. She is a two-time European all-around champion (2024, 2025) as well as the 2024 European balance beam and floor exercise champion. Asia D'Amato (; born 7 February 2003) is an Italian artistic gymnast. She represented Italy at the 2020 Olympic Games. She was a member of the teams that won bronze at the 2019 World Championships and gold at the 2022 European Championships.
