2024 Colombian Women's Football League
The 2024 Colombian Women's Football League (officially known as the Liga Femenina BetPlay DIMAYOR 2024 for sponsorship purposes) was the eighth season of Colombia's women's football league. The season began on 16 February and ended on 16 August 2024. Deportivo Cali won their second title in the competition, defeating the defending champions Santa Fe in the season's double-legged final by a 4–1 aggregate score. Format For this season the competition was played in three stages, with a similar structure to the men's league Categoría Primera A and introducing the semi-final groups (''cuadrangulares'') for the first time in the women's competition. In the first stage, the 15 participating teams played a single round-robin tournament with all teams playing each other once and having a bye day, for a total of 14 matches for each team and 15 rounds in the first stage. The Liga Femenina Profesional de Fútbol Colombiano (Colombian Professional Women's Football League) or Liga Femenina BetPlay DIMAYOR (sponsored name) is the top level women's football league in Colombia. The first season was held in 2017, with 18 teams taking part. The champion qualifies to the Copa Libertadores Femenina. History Colombia women's football had only regional leagues until 2016. The entrant to the Copa Libertadores Femenina was decided in a tournament called Copa Pre-Libertadores, in which non-professional clubs took part. The winning team in all editions was Formas Íntimas. In 2016 a tournament called Campeonato Nacional Interclubes was held, organized by the División Aficionada del Fútbol Colombiano (Difútbol). About 40 teams played in four stages for the championship. The 2019 Colombian Women's Football League (officially known as the Liga Águila Femenina 2019 for sponsorship reasons) was the third season of Colombia's top-flight women's football league. The season started on 13 July and concluded on 30 September 2019 with the second leg of the finals. América de Cali won their first league title following a 3–2 win on aggregate against Independiente Medellín in the finals. Atlético Huila were the defending champions, but were eliminated by the eventual runners-up Independiente Medellín in the semifinals. Format For this season, the league featured 20 teams, which were split into five double round-robin groups of four teams.
