2024–25 Celtic Challenge
The 2024–25 Celtic Challenge was the third season of the Celtic Challenge, a cross-border women's rugby union competition with teams from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. The six team tournament featured a full double round robin fixture series, with each team playing the others both home and away. Each team therefore played a ten match season, three more than the previous edition. Teams and locations The coaches for this season have been announced. Wolfhounds (rugby Union)
The Wolfhounds are an Irish women's regional rugby union team representing the provinces of Leinster and Ulster. Founded in 2023, the team competes in the Celtic Challenge, the international competition between Scottish, Welsh and Irish regional teams. They are funded by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU). History The IRFU announced the creation of the Wolfhounds and Clovers women's teams in December 2023. They replaced a Combined Provinces team, which competed in and won the inaugural Celtic Challenge season in 2023. With only two places available for Irish teams in the competition, the IRFU opted to merge its provinces: the Wolfhounds represent the provinces of Leinster and Ulster. Their shirt features the colours of both provinces, Leinster's blue and Ulster's white. Denis Fogarty
Denis Fogarty (born 16 July 1983) is a former Irish rugby union player who played at hooker for Munster, Aurillac, Agen and Provence. He has also represented Ireland at schoolboy, U21 and 'A' level. He was educated at Rockwell College. In May 2016, Fogarty was forced to retire from rugby after suffering a recurrence of a shoulder injury. Munster Fogarty made his debut for Munster against The Borders in the Celtic League in November 2004. When Frankie Sheahan sustained an injury, Fogarty was called up onto the bench for Munster's 2006 Heineken Cup Final against Biarritz Olympique in May 2006. He was part of the Munster A team that won the 2011–12 British and Irish Cup. His last game for Munster was the away play-off semi-final against Ospreys on 11 May 2012, which Munster lost 45-10. Cardiff Arms Park (), also known as The Arms Park, is primarily a rugby union stadium, and also has a bowling green. It is situated in Cardiff, Wales, next to the Millennium Stadium. Gwalia Lightning is a Welsh women's rugby union team based in Cardiff. Founded in 2023, the team competes in the Celtic Challenge, the international competition between Scottish, Welsh and Irish regional teams. History The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) announced the creation of two teams that would compete in the Celtic Challenge in December 2023, the teams were Gwalia Lightning and Brython Thunder. They replaced the Wales Development XV team that competed in the inaugural Celtic Challenge season. Scotstoun Stadium
Scotstoun Stadium is an athletics and rugby union stadium in Scotstoun, an area in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow Warriors have trained at the facility since 2009 and have played their home games here from the 2012–13 season onwards. Musgrave Park, known as Virgin Media Park for sponsorship reasons, is a rugby football stadium in the city of Cork, Ireland. The ground is situated on Pearse Road in Ballyphehane. The ground is named after Jimmy Musgrave, a past-president of the Irish Rugby Football Union. Owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), it is primarily used by Dolphin RFC, Sundays Well RFC, and Munster Rugby.
