2023–24 Western Illinois Leathernecks Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team represented Western Illinois University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Leathernecks, led by first-year head coach Chad Boudreau, played their home games at Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois as first-year members of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Leathernecks finished the season 21–12, 13–5 in OVC play, to finish in fourth place. They defeated Tennessee State before falling to Little Rock in the semifinals of the OVC tournament. Previous season The Leathernecks finished the 2022–23 season 16–14, 9–9 in Summit League play, to finish in a tie for fourth place. They were defeated by St. Thomas in the quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament. Chad Boudreau
Michael Chad Boudreau (born October 23, 1972) is an American college basketball coach and is currently the head coach of the Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team. Coaching career Boudreau began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball team at Hannibal-LaGrange College, and would later become an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Indian Hills Community College from 1999 to 2005 before joining Rob Jeter's coaching staff at Milwaukee. He was on staff for the Panthers' upset of Oklahoma during the 2006 NCAA Tournament and was part of two Horizon League regular season titles and two tournament titles. In 2016, Boudreau spent a single season as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Whitewater before becoming the head coach at NJCAA institution Highland Community College. Summit League
The Summit League, or The Summit, is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference with its membership mostly located in the Midwestern United States, from Minnesota in the east, to the Dakotas, Nebraska and Colorado to the West, and Missouri and Oklahoma to the South. Founded as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities in 1982, it rebranded as the Mid-Continent Conference in 1989, then again as the Summit League on June 1, 2007. Fort Zumwalt North High School, the first high school established in its Fort Zumwalt School District, is located in O'Fallon, Missouri. Established in 1960 as Fort Zumwalt High School, the school moved to its current location in 1976. "North" was added to the school's name when the district's second high school opened in 1987. History The district's high school students attended Wentzville or Saint Charles schools until 1960, when a standalone two-wing high school was built for grades 9–12 at Sonderen Street. The Lamar Cardinals basketball team represents Lamar University in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. The Cardinals currently play in the Southland Conference following a return from the Western Athletic Conference on July 11, 2022. They were one of four programs, all from Texas, that left the Southland Conference on July 1, 2021, to join the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
