2023–24 Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by coach Kyle Neptune in his second season as a head coach, the Wildcats played their home games at the Finneran Pavilion on the school's campus in the Philadelphia suburb of Villanova, Pennsylvania and Wells Fargo Center as members of the Big East Conference. Previous season The Wildcats finished the 2022–23 season 17–17, 10–10 in Big East play, to tie for sixth place. They defeated Georgetown in the opening round of the 2023 Big East tournament before losing to Creighton in the quarterfinals. Kyle Neptune
Kyle Neptune (born January 21, 1985) is an American basketball coach. He most recently served as head coach of the Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team. Playing career Neptune attended Brooklyn Friends School, and was a member of the school's 2003 State Championship team, recording a school record in points with 1,650. He played collegiate basketball at Lehigh under Billy Taylor where he was a member of the Mountain Hawks' 2004 NCAA tournament team. Coaching career Neptune's coaching career began in 2008 as a video coordinator under Jay Wright at Villanova and was on staff for the Wildcats' 2009 Final Four appearance. In 2010, he joined Joe Mihalich's staff at Niagara for three seasons before returning to Villanova as an assistant coach for eight seasons. The 2022–23 Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team represented Creighton University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bluejays were coached by 13th-year head coach Greg McDermott and played their home games at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska as members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 14–6 in Big East play to finish in third place. As the No. 3 seed in the Big East tournament, they defeated Villanova before losing to Xavier in the semifinals. Caleb Daniels (born May 17, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Filou Oostende of the BNXT League. He played college basketball for the Tulane Green Wave and Villanova Wildcats. The 2011–12 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2011–12 college basketball season. Villanova was led by eleventh year head coach Jay Wright. The Wildcats participated in the Big East Conference and played their home games at The Pavilion with some select home games at the Wells Fargo Center. The Wildcats finished with a record of 13–19 overall, 5–13 in Big East play for a tie for fourteenth-place finish. This was Wright's worst season at Nova and the only Nova team coached by Wright that would not play in any of the post-season tournaments.
