2023–24 Vegas Golden Knights Season
The 2023–24 Vegas Golden Knights season was the List of Vegas Golden Knights seasons, seventh season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 NHL season, 2017–18 season. The Golden Knights entered the season as the defending Stanley Cup champions. During the season, Vegas started off hot, winning the first seven games, the most wins to start a season from a defending cup champion. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Logan Thompson (born February 25, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). After playing junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Thompson went undrafted, and spent time in U Sports, the ECHL, and the American Hockey League (AHL) before signing his first NHL contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2020. T-Mobile Park
T-Mobile Park is a retractable roof ballpark in Seattle, Washington, United States. It is the home stadium of the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball and has a seating capacity of 47,929. It is in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood, near the western terminus of Interstate 90 and is owned and operated by the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District. The 2023–24 Seattle Kraken season was the third season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at Climate Pledge Arena. During the season, the Kraken played in the 2024 Winter Classic, winning 3–0 against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Park on January 1, 2024, achieving the first shutout in Winter Classic history. 2024 NHL Winter Classic
The 2024 NHL Winter Classic was a regular season outdoor National Hockey League (NHL) game between the Seattle Kraken and the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. The game was played on January 1, 2024 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, before a crowd of 47,313 spectators. The Kraken defeated the Golden Knights 3–0 and became the first team to earn a shutout in a Winter Classic. Background The league announced the game on January 2, 2023, before the start of the previous season's Winter Classic. Stanley Cup
The Stanley Cup () is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion. It is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in North America, and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) considers it to be one of the "most important championships available to the sport".
