2023–24 Scarlets Season
The 2023–24 season is the 20th season in the history of the Scarlets, a Welsh regional rugby union side based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. In this season, they are competing in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. Friendlies On 12 June 2023, the Scarlets announced that they would face the Barbarian F.C., Barbarians in a pre-season friendly. The game would be marked as the Phil Bennett Memorial Game and the culmination of the 150-year anniversary celebration since Llanelli RFC were founded. Former Scarlets players Aaron Shingler and Rob Evans (rugby union), Rob Evans were named as part of the Barbarians squad. The Scarlets won the game 33–19 despite Evans scoring for the Barbarians in the 46th minute. Dwayne Peel
Dwayne John Peel (born 31 August 1981) is a Welsh rugby union coach and former player. He was the most capped scrum-half for the Wales national rugby union team with 76 caps, until his record was surpassed by Mike Phillips on 16 March 2013. Youth and early career Peel was born in Carmarthen, Wales. He started his rugby career playing for Tumble RFC at Under-8s level. He attended Ysgol Gyfun Maes-yr-Yrfa in Cefneithin, and is a fluent Welsh speaker. He made his professional club debut for Llanelli RFC before joining the Llanelli Scarlets region at its creation in 2003. Llanelli RFC
Llanelli Rugby Football Club () is a Welsh rugby union club founded on 30 March 1872. The club's historic home ground was Stradey Park in Llanelli, but they moved in 2008 to the new Parc y Scarlets in adjacent Pemberton. The club song is " Sosban Fach", a Welsh song meaning "Little Saucepan", which is sometimes sung by the club's fans during matches as the club anthem. The team colours are scarlet and white. Following the 2003 regionalisation of Welsh rugby, Llanelli is now a feeder club to the Scarlets regional team. Tomi Lewis
Tomi Lewis (born 17 January 1999) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for the Scarlets as a fullback or wing. Lewis has represented Wales 7s and Wales U20, most recently in the 2019 U20 Six Nations. Professional career Scarlets Lewis attended Llandovery College, and played for their rugby team, while part of the Scarlets academy. In 2017, Lewis was selected for Wales U18 on their tour to South Africa. Lewis was selected for Wales U20 for the 2018 Six Nations Under 20s Championship. He was again selected for the tournament in 2019, as well as for the 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship, scoring three tries. Dragons RFC
Dragons RFC () are one of the four professional rugby union regional teams in Wales. They play in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup/ European Rugby Challenge Cup. They play their home games at Rodney Parade, Newport, which was the home of Newport RFC from 1877 to 2017, and is shared with Newport County AFC, the city's English Football League team. Charlie Titcombe
Charlie Titcombe (born 28 December 2001) is an English rugby union player who plays as a Flyhalf for Welsh United Rugby Championship side Scarlets. Club career Youth Titcombe played in the Leicester Tigers academy being released at 18, moving to Loughborough University playing in the BUCS Super Rugby, winning the league in 2022–23. Titcombe was named as player as the tournament. Kieran Hardy
Kieran Richard Hardy (born 30 November 1995) is a Welsh professional rugby union player who plays as a scrum-half for United Rugby Championship club Ospreys and the Wales national team. Club career Hardy first played for local side Pontyberem RFC until the age of 16. He began his professional career with Carmarthen Quins, while progressing through the age grade ranks with the Scarlets. Despite making his professional debut with the Scarlets in 2014, he departed the club in 2016 in order to gain experience and game time, as it was limited with competition in the scrum half jersey. Hardy subsequently joined RFU Championship club Jersey Reds, along with Scarlet teammate Regan King. Cardiff Rugby () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams. Based in Cardiff, the team play at Cardiff Arms Park. Eddie James (rugby Union)
Eddie James (born 10 August 2002) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for the Scarlets and Wales national team as a centre. Professional career Early years and amateur rugby James first played for the Carmarthen Quins youth team, and attended Ysgol Bro Myrddin. He attended Coleg Sir Gar, where he played before joining the Scarlets academy in 2020. To gain further experience, James went to New Zealand in 2022 to spend three months with Linwood RFC, alongside fellow academy player Sam O'Connor. Archie Hughes (born 14 February 2003) is a Welsh rugby union player, currently playing for United Rugby Championship side Scarlets as a scrum-half. Johnny McNicholl
Johnny McNicholl (born 24 September 1990) is a New Zealand born rugby union player who previously played as a Winger or fullback for the Scarlets regional side in the Pro14 league and the Wales national team. Shaun Evans (born 14 September 1996) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for United Rugby Championship team Scarlets as a hooker.
