2023–24 PWHL Season
The 2023–24 PWHL season was the first season of operation of the Professional Women's Hockey League, and began play on January 1, 2024. Six teams competed during the inaugural season, located in PWHL Montreal, Montreal, PWHL Toronto, Toronto, PWHL New York, New York/Bridgeport, PWHL Boston, Boston, PWHL Ottawa, Ottawa, and PWHL Minnesota, Saint Paul. The season culminated in a two-round best-of-five playoff including the top four teams to determine the season champion. PWHL Toronto topped the regular season standings with 17 wins and 47 points. In the playoffs, PWHL Minnesota won the inaugural Walter Cup, defeating PWHL Boston in a 5-game series for the title. Professional Women's Hockey League
The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL; , LPHF) is a women's professional ice hockey league in North America. The league comprises eight teams, four each from the United States and Canada. The teams play a Season (sports), regular season to earn one of four places in a Playoffs, postseason tournament that determines the winner of the Walter Cup. The PWHL is wholly owned and operated by the Mark Walter, Mark Walter Group. Emerance Maschmeyer
Emerance Maschmeyer-Lacasse (born October 5, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for PWHL Vancouver of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She previously played for the Ottawa Charge of the PWHL. She is also a member of Canada women's national ice hockey team, with whom she won the gold medal at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship and the 2022 Winter Olympics. She first made her debut with Team Canada at the 2014 4 Nations Cup. Playing career Maschmeyer was the second female goaltender to compete in the Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament in Edmonton. A meeting was set up at the tournament for her to meet Shannon Szabados, and since then, the two have stayed in contact. Brianne Jenner
Brianne Alexandra Jenner (born May 4, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player and Captain (ice hockey), captain for the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and a member of Canada women's national ice hockey team. She made her debut for Canada at the 2010 Four Nations Cup and won a gold medal. She played college hockey with the Cornell Big Red women's ice hockey program. Before signing in the PWHL, Jenner served on the board of directors of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and currently serves on the executive committee of the Professional Women's Hockey League Players Association (PWHLPA). Emily Clark (ice Hockey)
Emily Clark (born November 28, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League. Clark has competed for Team Canada at the junior and senior level, beginning in 2011. She made her senior debut with Canada at the 2014 4 Nations Cup. She went on to compete with the Canadian national team at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where she helped Canada win a silver medal, and the 2022 Winter Olympics, where she helped Canada win gold. Gina Kingsbury
Gina Kingsbury (born November 26, 1981) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and current general manager for the Toronto Sceptres of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Playing career Besides hockey, Kingsbury participated in field hockey and softball as a student at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. Kingsbury participated in the 1995 Canada Winter Games at the age of 13. She competed in the Games again four years later. Pascal Daoust
Pascal Daoust is a Canadian ice hockey executive, the first and current general manager of the New York Sirens of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Career Daoust received a bachelor's degree in physical education from the Université de Montréal in 1999. He was an assistant coach for their women's hockey program from 2010 to 2016, winning two national championships in that time. He also served as assistant coach of Les Canadiennes de Montreal in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. Following his time with the Carabins, Daoust was general manager of the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, also serving as interim head coach on multiple occasions.
