2023–24 Nevada Wolf Pack Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team represented the University of Nevada, Reno during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolf Pack, led by fifth-year head coach Steve Alford, played their home games for the 40th season at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. They participated as members of the Mountain West Conference for the 12th season. They finished the season 26–6, 13–5 in Mountain West play to finish in second place. They were defeated by 2023–24 Colorado State Rams men's basketball team, Colorado State in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament, Mountain West tournament. They received an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament as a No. 10 seed, where they lost in the first round to 2023–24 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team, Dayton. Steve Alford
Stephen Todd Alford (born November 23, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball, Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Born and raised in Indiana, he was a two-time consensus first-team NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans, All-American playing in college for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball, Indiana Hoosiers. He led them to a national championship in 1987. After playing professionally for four years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he has been a college head coach for over 30 years. Alford was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in high school before playing at Indiana University Bloomington under coach Bobby Knight. He helped the Hoosiers claim their fifth national championship, and finished his career as Indiana's all-time leading scorer.
