The Nemzeti Bajnokság I (, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the premier men's professional handball league in Hungary, administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Since 2016 the official name of the championship is ''K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga'' due to sponsorship reasons. Overview Running since 1951, the Hungarian championship is among the strongests in Europe. Alba Fehérvár Kézilabda Club is a Hungarian women's handball team based in Székesfehérvár. Founded in 1968 by the merger of ''Máv Előre'' and ''VT Vasas'', the club achieved their biggest success in 2005, when they were crowned of the EHF Cup winners, after beating domestic rivals Győri ETO KC in the finals. Hódos Imre Sports Hall
Hódos Imre Sports Hall is an indoor arena in Debrecen, Hungary. It is primarily used for handball. Besides sport events, it also hosts other type of events. It was inaugurated as an exhibition and sports hall in 1976. The hall was renovated in 2018–2020. The Hódos Imre Sports Hall is located only four kilometres away from the city centre with public transport stopping directly in front of it. Hódos Imre Sports Hall has 1,848 seating places for handball events. For other events, such as concerts and shows, the figures can go up to 3,000, including standing places. It is the home ground of the top-class handball club Debreceni VSC (women's handball), Debreceni VSC. There are 80 parking spaces around the arena. However, there are 455 parking spaces in the adjacent Főnix Aréna parking lot, providing plenty of space for visitors arriving by car. Városi Sportcsarnok (Békéscsaba)
The Városi Sportcsarnok () is a multi-use indoor stadium in Békéscsaba, Hungary. The arena, which has an oval shape, very similar to the Colosseum, was opened in 1988, and has been modernized and renovated for the 2004 European Women's Handball Championship, to fulfil the strict criteria of the European Handball Federation. It is the home ground of the local sports clubs, from which the best known is Békéscsabai Előre NKSE, that usually play in a sold-out arena. The sports hall also hosts martial art events, futsal matches, galas, expos, balls, dance competitions and motocross races. In the building of the arena runs the Sport Hotel, which offers rooms in all comfort levels with additional services such as gym, massage, sauna and solarium. Vasas SC is a Hungarian women's handball team. It is part of the Budapest-based multi-sports club Vasas SC. One of the most successful teams in the country, they have won the Hungarian championship a record 15 times and in 1982 they were also crowned as the European Champions Cup winners. History ''Hazena'', the early form of the modern handball, had been played across Europe for years, when, in 1926, based on the players who were fired by MTE for political reasons, ''Vas- és Fémmunkások Sport Clubja'' was founded.
