The 2023–24 Nemzeti Bajnokság I (known as the ''K&H Bank, K&H férfi kézilabda liga'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 73rd season of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (men's handball), Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the top men's handball league in Hungary. A total of fourteen teams contest this season's league, which began on 26 August 2023 and will conclude in 29 May 2024. Telekom Veszprém won their twenty-eighth title. Nemzeti Bajnokság I (men's Handball)
The Nemzeti Bajnokság I (, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the premier men's professional handball league in Hungary, administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Since 2016 the official name of the championship is ''K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga'' due to sponsorship reasons. Overview Running since 1951, the Hungarian championship is among the strongests in Europe. Veszprém KC have won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2008 and have reached the semi-final of the EHF Champions League three times in the last nine seasons, capturing a silver medal in 2002. Dabas, Hungary
Dabas () is a town in Pest County, Hungary, and the center of a microregion. It has a population of 17,000. History The town consists of four different parts: Upper Dabas, Lower Dabas, Gyón and Sári. The village of Dabas was already a populous settlement in 1270, but in the Ottoman era the whole region became totally deserted. In the 18th century four new villages were created by the owners of the territory. The inhabitants of Upper-Dabas were catholic Hungarian serfs, Lower-Dabas was the centre of the lower nobility (especially the famous and populous Halász family), Sári (''Šari'') was populated by catholic Slovak colonists and Gyón by Reformed Hungarians and Evangelical Slovaks. The Slovaks of Sári kept their national identity until the present. In the 19th century the nobility of Lower Dabas built several Neoclassical mansions – these are the main attractions of the town today. Csurgó (formerly ''Somogy-Csurgó''; or ) is a town in Somogy County, Hungary, and the seat of Csurgó District. The settlement is part of the Balatonboglár wine region. Balatonfüred
Balatonfüred (; ; ) is a resort town in Veszprém county, in Hungary. The town with a population of 13,000 is situated on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. It is considered to be the capital of the Northern lake shore and is a yachting destination. It is also a location for fishing (carp being the most common catch) although the introduction of eels and other non-indigenous species has caused Ecosystem health, ecological damage in recent years. The National Academy of Handball (, commonly abbreviated NEKA) is a Hungary, Hungarian state-funded team handball, handball training and developing center run by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Located in Balatonboglár, it offers an integrated four year education for students in grades 9–12.
