The 2023–24 NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by eleventh-year head coach Wes Moore and played their home games at Reynolds Coliseum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Wolfpack got off to a hot start to the season when they upset second ranked Connecticut in the second game of the season. The Wolfpack were unranked at the time and vaulted to fourteenth in the nation with the win. They carried their momentum through the Paradise Jam, defeating number 3 Colorado to win the championship. Wes Moore (basketball)
Frank Weston Moore (born April 22, 1957) is an American college basketball coach who is the current women's basketball head coach at NC State Wolfpack women's basketball, NC State. A head coach at all three levels of NCAA women's college basketball since 1987, Moore has been named Coach of the Year eight times by three conferences and over 20 regular season or conference tournament championships. Moore grew up in Dallas and played college basketball at Johnson University, Johnson Bible College. He began his coaching career as a men's basketball coach at Johnson Bible in 1984. Then in 1987, Moore became head coach for a struggling women's basketball program at Maryville Scots, Maryville College and instantly turned the program into a winner, with five NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament, NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and over 130 wins in six seasons. North Carolina–NC State Rivalry
The North Carolina–NC State rivalry, also known as the State-Carolina game, Carolina–State Game, North Carolina–NC State game, NCSU–UNC game, and other similar permutations, is an ongoing series of athletic competitions between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels and North Carolina State University Wolfpack. The intensity of the game is driven by the universities' similar sizes, the fact the schools are separated by only 25 miles, and the large number of alumni that live within the state's borders. The 2023–24 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The team was coached by Vic Schaefer entering his fourth season at Texas. The Longhorns were members of the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at the new Moody Center. 2024 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 ACC women's basketball tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, from March 6–10, 2024. The 2024 edition marked the 24th time in 25 years that the tournament was held in Greensboro. The defending champions were the Virginia Tech Hokies. Virginia Tech entered this edition as the number one seed after winning the regular season. However, they were unable to defend their title, losing in the Semifinals to Notre Dame. Notre Dame would go on to win the tournament over NC State 55–51 in the Final.
