2023–24 Michigan Wolverines Women's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team represented the University of Michigan during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolverines were led by head coach Kim Barnes Arico in her twelfth year, and played their home games at the Crisler Center. This season marked the program's 42nd season as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Previous season The Wolverines finished the 2022–23 season with a 23–10 record, including 11–7 in Big Ten play to finish in fourth place. They were ranked the No. 6 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, and advanced to the second round, before being eliminated by eventually tournament champion LSU. Kim Barnes Arico
Kimberly Ann Barnes Arico (born August 9, 1970) is an American basketball coach and the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team. She is the all-time winningest Michigan basketball coach. Previously, she was head coach of the St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team. She was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. Coaching career On May 7, 2002, Barnes Arico was named the head coach at St. John's. She was named the seventh head coach in the then 28-year history of the women's basketball program. She holds the record for most wins at the program and led the Red Storm to their first Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2012 NCAA tournament. Emily Katherine Kiser (born February 10, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for A.O. Eleutheria Moschatou of the Greek Women's Basketball League. She played college basketball at Michigan. High school career Kiser attended Noblesville High School where she played both volleyball and basketball. She was named a three-time Hoosier Crossroads All-Conference Team honoree. During her junior year in 2017, she averaged 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game and was named to the Indiana Junior All-Star team. During her senior year in 2018, she averaged 21 points and 13.4 rebounds for the Millers. Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different Position (team sports), positions defined by the strategic role they play. Guard, forward and center are the three main position categories. The standard team features two guards, two forwards, and a center. Leigha Brown (born July 14, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the AE Sedis Bàsquet of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. She played college basketball at Nebraska and Michigan. College career Brown began her collegiate at Nebraska during the 2018–19 season. In her freshman year, she averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
