The 2023–24 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represented Iowa State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached by T. J. Otzelberger in his third season as head coach. They played their home games at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa as members of the Big 12 Conference. Hilton Coliseum
James H. Hilton Coliseum, is a 14,267-seat multi-purpose arena located in Ames, Iowa. The arena opened in 1971. It is home to the Iowa State University Cyclones men's and women's basketball teams, wrestling, gymnastics and volleyball teams. Overview The building was constructed in 1971 as part of the Iowa State Center, an athletic and cultural events area located southeast of the main campus. The Coliseum was named after James H. Hilton, ISU's president from 1953 to 1965, who pushed for the construction of the facility. The Iowa State Center also includes Jack Trice Stadium, C.Y. Stephens Auditorium, Fisher Theater and Scheman Continuing Education Building. The 2023 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament that determined the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's basketball national champion for the 2022–23 season. Keshon Gilbert
Keshon Montae Gilbert (born June 30, 2003) is an American college basketball player for Iowa State Cyclones of the Big 12 Conference. He previously played for the UNLV Rebels. Early life and high school Gilbert was born on June 30, 2003 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Koray Gilbert and Amelia Mclain. As a sophomore at Durango High School in Nevada, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 54.5 percent shooting. As a senior at Vashon High School, Gilbert helped lead his school to a state championship. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a three-star recruit and committed to play college basketball for the UNLV Rebels over Nevada, Fresno State and Long Beach State. College career UNLV As a freshman with Rebels in 2021–22, Gilbert appeared in all 32 games for UNLV, where he averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. 2022–23 Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team represented the University at Buffalo in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulls, led by fourth-year head coach Jim Whitesell, played their home games at Alumni Arena in Amherst, New York as members of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 15–17, 9–9 in MAC play to finish in a tie for sixth place. As the No. 6 seed in the MAC tournament they lost to Akron in the quarterfinals. On March 11, 2023, the school fired head coach Jim Whitesell. On March 30, the school named longtime Villanova assistant coach George Halcovage the team's new head coach.
