2023–24 Drake Bulldogs Women's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Drake Bulldogs women's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by third-year head coach Allison Pohlman, played their home games at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). The Bulldogs finished the season 29–6, 19–1 in MVC play, to finish in first place. In the MVC tournament, they defeated Indiana State in the quarterfinals, Northern Iowa in the semifinals, and Missouri State to win the MVC tournament championship and earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. They received the #12 seed in the Albany Regional 2, where they would lose to #5 region seed Colorado in the first round. Allison Pohlman
Allison Pohlman (née Starr; born October 6, 1977) is an American basketball coach and the current head coach of the Drake Bulldogs women's basketball team. She took over the position in April 2021, following Jennie Baranczyk's hiring at Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball, Oklahoma. Pohlman had been an associate head coach and assistant coach at Drake since 2007. Prior to Drake, she was an assistant coach at Northern Iowa Panthers women's basketball, Northern Iowa, her alma mater, and served as associate head coach there from 2006 to 2007. Playing career A Wellsburg, Iowa native, playing at Northern Iowa, Pohlman was named to the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Freshman team and, in the three successive seasons, she was named All-MVC First Team and to the conference's All-Defensive Team. The Drake Bulldogs are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. Lino Lakes ( ) is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 21,399 at the 2020 census. Interstates 35W and 35E are two of Lino Lakes's main routes. It is an outer suburb north of the Twin Cities. The 2022–23 Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Cardinals, were led by 16th-year head coach Jeff Walz, and played their home games at the KFC Yum! Center. This season was their ninth year competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
