The 2023–24 Danish 1st Division (known as the NordicBet Liga due to sponsorship by NordicBet) marked the 28th season of the league operating as the second tier of Danish football and the 84th season overall under the 1st Division name. The league is governed by the Danish Football Association (DBU). Participants Horsens and AaB finished the 2022–23 season of the Superliga in 11th and 12th place, respectively, and were relegated to the 1st Division. They have a football team ( SønderjyskE Fodbold, based in Haderslev), two handball teams (SønderjyskE Håndbold, one male based in Sønderborg, one female based in Aabenraa) and an ice hockey team ( SønderjyskE Ishockey, based in Vojens). Forum Horsens Stadium, known as Nordstern Arena Horsens for sponsorship reasons, is a stadium in Horsens, Denmark. Hybrid grass or reinforced natural grass is a product created by combining natural lawn grass with reinforcing synthetic fibres. 2022–23 Danish 2nd Division
The 2022–23 Danish 2nd Division was the 32nd season of the Danish 2nd Division since its establishment in 1991. The season started on 6 August 2022 with a group of twelve teams. After 22 rounds the group was split in a promotion group and a relegation group. The top two teams of the promotion group were promoted to the 2023–24 Danish 1st Division. Participants Esbjerg fB and Jammerbugt FC finished the 2020–21 season of the Danish 1st Division in 11th and 12th place, respectively, and were relegated to the 2nd Division. They replaced Næstved BK and Hillerød Fodbold, who were promoted to the 2022–23 Danish 1st Division.
