2023–24 Charlotte 49ers Women's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Charlotte during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 49ers, led by 13th-year head coach Cara Consuegra, play their home games at Dale F. Halton Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina as first-year members of the American Athletic Conference (AAC). The 49ers finished the season 16–15, 9–9 in AAC play, to finish in a five-way tie for sixth place. They were upset by last-placed Tulane in the second round of the AAC tournament. On April 17, 2024, it was announced that head coach Cara Consuegra would be stepping down from her position in order to take the head coaching position at Marquette. On April 25, the school announced that they would be hiring Jackson State head coach Tomekia Reed as the team's new head coach. Cara Consuegra
Cara Ashley Consuegra (born March 4, 1979) is an American women's basketball coach, currently the head coach at Marquette. Previously, she had been the head coach with the Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team, and before that she spent 7 seasons as an assistant coach at Marquette. Her current head coaching record is 224–164. Consuegra played at Iowa from 1997–2001, where she was the first Hawkeyes player to score more than 1,000 points and 500 assists. She then played one year for the Utah Starzz in the WNBA. Gulf Coast State College Commodores
Gulf Coast State College athletic teams are nicknamed the Commodores and compete in the Panhandle Conference of the Florida State College Activities Association, a body of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8. The current athletic director is Mike Kandler who has been serving in this capacity since 2018. Championships The Commodores have won a total of 74 championships. 32 of those belong to the women's basketball team. The Rider Broncs women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The school's team competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Coppin State Eagles women's basketball team represents Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.
