Carlisle United F
Carlisle ( , ; from ) is a city in the Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. Carlisle's early history is marked by the establishment of a settlement called Luguvalium to serve forts along Hadrian's Wall in Roman Britain. Due to its proximity to Scotland (being located south of the current Anglo-Scottish border), Carlisle Castle and the city became an important military stronghold in the Middle Ages. The castle served as a prison for Mary, Queen of Scots in 1568 and currently hosts the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and the Border Regiment Museum. A priory was built in the early 12th century, which subsequently became Carlisle Cathedral in 1133 on the creation of the Diocese of Carlisle. Alfie McCalmont (born 25 March 2000) is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Central Coast Mariners and the Northern Ireland national team. Callum Guy
Callum Anthony Guy (born 25 November 1996) is an English professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for club Carlisle United. Guy started his career at Derby County before playing on loan at Port Vale during the 2016–17 season and joined Bradford City on loan in January 2018. In August 2018, he joined Blackpool in a deal made permanent in January 2019. He left Blackpool for Carlisle United in January 2020. He was voted the club's Player of the Year after picking up 14 assists in the 2020–21 season, at which point he was named as club captain. Paul David Huntington (born 17 September 1987) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Bradford City. Club career Newcastle United Huntington joined Newcastle United Academy on 1 July 2004. He was promoted to the reserve squad in late 2004 to play tougher opposition and gain experience. Samuel Mark Lavelle (born 3 October 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender. He is currently a free agent. Born in England, he represented Scotland at youth international level. Jack Armer (born 16 April 2001) is a professional footballer who plays for Burton Albion as a defender. Born in England, he has represented Scotland at youth international level. Early and personal life Born in Preston, Armer is from Penwortham and has Scottish descent on his mother's side of the family. Finley Jude William Back (born 25 September 2002) is an English professional footballer who plays as a right back or defensive midfielder for Wycombe Wanderers. Career Nottingham Forest Back joined the Nottingham Forest academy at the age of eight-years old. Tomáš Holý (; born 10 December 1991) is a Czech professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Czech National Football League club Artis Brno. Holý started his professional career at Sparta Prague, having previously been part of the Hradec Králové youth system. 2023–24 EFL Trophy
The 2023–24 EFL Trophy, known as the Bristol Street Motors Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was the 43rd season in the history of EFL Trophy, the competition, and was a knock-out tournament for clubs in EFL League One and EFL League Two, League Two, the third and fourth tiers of the English football league system, as well as the "Elite Player Performance Plan, Academy teams" of 15 Premier League and one Championship club with Professional Development League#League 1, Category One status. 2023–24 EFL Cup
The 2023–24 EFL Cup was the 64th season of the EFL Cup (known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons). The competition was open to all clubs participating in the Premier League and the English Football League. The winner of the competition qualified for the play-off round of the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League. 2023–24 FA Cup
The 2023–24 FA Cup was the 143rd season of the Football Association Challenge Cup, the oldest football tournament in the world. It was sponsored by Emirates and known as the Emirates FA Cup for sponsorship purposes. The final was played on 25 May 2024 between defending champions Manchester City and local rivals Manchester United, a repeat of the previous final which Manchester City won 2–1.
