2023–24 Big Ten Conference Women's Basketball Season
The 2023–24 Big Ten women's basketball season began with practices in October 2023, followed by the start of the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November 2023. The regular season ended in March 2024. This was the last season played with 14 teams in the conference, with four schools joining the following year. This was the first season played under the Big Ten's new seven-year media rights deal. As a result, no conference games aired on ESPN and some games were streamed by Peacock for the first time. NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest division of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. D-I schools include the major collegiate athletic powers, with large budgets, more elaborate facilities and more athletic scholarships than Division II and Division III as well as many smaller schools committed to the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Dawn Plitzuweit
Dawn Plitzuweit (; born October 31, 1972) is an American basketball coach, currently the head women's basketball coach at the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's basketball, University of Minnesota. Playing career Plitzuweit attended Michigan Technological University, Michigan Tech between 1990–1995, but did not play basketball during the 1991–92 season. In her freshman year she started all 29 games. Her sophomore year, 1992–93, played in all 33 games leading Michigan Tech to a record of 30–3 scoring 12.4 points a game, 2nd on the team. Her Junior year she, once again, played in all 28 games. Her senior year she played in 29 of the 30 games that year and would finish her career with a playing record of 99–22. South Dakota Coyotes Women's Basketball
The South Dakota Coyotes women's basketball team represents the University of South Dakota in NCAA Division I basketball. They are currently members of the Summit League. History As of the end of the 2022–23 season the Coyotes have a 890–559 all-time record, with play beginning in 1971. They won the North Central Conference regular season title in 1983, 1984, 1985, 2003, and finishing their time in NCC with a regular season and conference tournament win in 2008. Amy Michelle Williams (née Gusso; born March 22, 1976) is the current head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball, Nebraska women's basketball team. Kimberly Ann Barnes Arico (born August 9, 1970) is an American basketball coach and the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team. She is the all-time winningest Michigan basketball coach. Previously, she was head coach of the St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team. She was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. Coaching career On May 7, 2002, Barnes Arico was named the head coach at St. John's. Brenda Sue Frese (born April 30, 1970) is an American women's basketball head coach and former player. Since 2002, she has served as the head coach of the University of Maryland women's basketball team. In her fourth year as head coach, she won the 2006 Women's National Championship. The Indiana State Sycamores basketball team is an NCAA Division I women's basketball program of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. Teri Marie Moren (born April 14, 1969) is the current head coach of the Indiana University women's basketball team.
