2023–24 Bellarmine Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Bellarmine Knights men's basketball team represented Bellarmine University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Knights, led by 19th-year head coach Scott Davenport, played their home games at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN). They finished the season 8–23, 4–11 in ASUN play to finish in last place. They failed to qualify for the ASUN tournament. The Knights were in the final year of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I, making the 2023–24 season the final season that they were ineligible for the NCAA tournament. This was also the Knights' final season at Freedom Hall. Near the start of the 2024–25 school year, which coincided with the end of Bellarmine's transition to Division I, the school announced that home games would return to campus at Knights Hall. Scott Davenport
Scott Davenport, also known as "Scotty" (born January 25, 1957/1958), is an American former college basketball coach. He is best known as the former head men's basketball coach at Bellarmine University for 20 years. Early life Davenport, a native of Bellarmine's home city of Louisville, Kentucky, grew up less than a mile from Churchill Downs in the city's South End, an area described by ''Sports Illustrated'' writer (and Louisville resident) Pat Forde as "gritty". His father died of a heart attack when he was 9 years old, and he was raised from that point by his mother, a hair stylist who had a sixth-grade education. According to Forde, Davenport "was not blessed with abundant athletic talent, but had an unquenchable love of basketball", playing at nearby Iroquois High School. The Miami RedHawks men's basketball team — known as the Miami Redskins until 1997 — is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Miami University. The school competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The North Dakota State Bison men's basketball team is a part of the athletic program at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, U.S. They are members of the NCAA Division I and have been part of The Summit League since May 2007.
