2023–24 BIBL Season
The 2023–24 BIBL season is the 16th edition of Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL). Teams from Montenegro, Kosovo and the newly represented country Cyprus are participating in this year’s competition. Format The Balkan International Basketball League introduced a new, simplified competition format. Under this format, the competition will now feature a total of five teams and the tournament will divided into two phases: the Regular Season, whereby all participating teams will play each other in a double round robin both at home and away. Following the regular season's conclusion, the top four placed teams will qualify to the Final Four In sports, the final four is the last four teams remaining in a playoffs, playoff tournament. Balkan International Basketball League
The Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), also known as the Balkan League and as the Delasport BIBL Balkan League for sponsorship reasons, is a multinational professional basketball league featuring clubs primarily from the Balkans. The league includes teams from countries such as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Cyprus, and Israel. The most recent league champion is Sigal Prishtina from Kosovo. The purpose of the Balkan International Basketball League is to provide competitive international play for clubs in the Balkans that might otherwise be unable to participate in international basketball. The league achieves this by providing financial support to all participating clubs to offset the costs associated with international competition. Notably, the league is also the first international league of its kind to include teams from Kosovo. KB Peja
Klubi i Basketbollit Peja ( English: ''Basketball Club Peja'') is a Kosovan professional basketball club based in Pejë. The club competes in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague, Kosovo Cup and Liga Unike. The team's roster has included big names like Acie Earl, Fred House, Ricardo Marsh, Samir Shaptahu, Dardan Berisha, Ersid Luca, Drilon Hajrizi and Gerti Shima. History The team was officially formed on 13 March 1993 under the ownership of Ilhami Gashi. The club's first manager was Valdet Spahija and the first roster consisted of Valdet Spahija (as player-manager), Riza Gjakova, Ahmet Nimani, Besim Gjuka, Sebajdin Sylejmani, Agim Lluka, Agim Beqiraj and Turhan Zajmi. A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. The Prva A liga, for sponsorships reasons named the Erste Liga, is the top-tier professional basketball league in Montenegro. It is the highest basketball division organized by the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG). Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (; ), or CyBC (; ), is Cyprus' public broadcasting service. Košarkaški klub Lovćen 1947, commonly referred to as KK Lovćen 1947, is a Montenegrin men's professional basketball club based in Cetinje. The team currently competes in the Montenegrin Basketball League. The team currently competes in the Kosovo Superleague, Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL) and the FIBA Europe Cup. They are the most successful club in Kosovo, having won 14 national championships, 15 national cups and 7 supercups in the last 14 years.
