The 2023 Leagues Cup final was the final match of the 2023 Leagues Cup, third edition of the Leagues Cup, a association football, soccer tournament played between clubs from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX. The match was played on August 19, 2023, at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. It was contested by hosts Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF, both recent expansion teams who had yet to win a competitive trophy. Miami took the lead in the first half through a goal from Lionel Messi, while Fafà Picault equalized after half-time for Nashville; the match ended 1–1 after regulation time. Geodis Park, formerly known as Nashville SC Stadium and Nashville Fairgrounds Stadium, is a 30,000-seat soccer-specific stadium at the historic Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee. Fabrice-Jean "Fafà" Picault (born 23 February 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Nashville SC. 2023 Leagues Cup Group Stage
The 2023 Leagues Cup group stage was played from July 21 to 31, 2023. A total of 45 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 30 of the 32 places in the knockout stage of the 2023 Leagues Cup. Format In each of the 15 groups, teams played against each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams of each group advanced to the round of 32. Besides the teams receiving byes, the top 15 remaining teams from each league were placed into groups in reverse order (for example, the 2nd-ranked MLS club was drawn against the 16th-ranked Liga MX club).
