The 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship was the 15th IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in ice hockey which took place in Östersund, Sweden, 8–15 January 2023. Nela Lopušanová
Nela Lopušanová (born 26 February 2008) is a Slovak ice hockey winger for the Bishop Kearney Selects under-19 AAA team. She gained the attention of the international ice hockey community at age fourteen with her remarkable performance at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, which included scoring the first Michigan goal at an IIHF women's event. Lopušanová also plays elite ball hockey and is a member of the Slovak women's national ball hockey team. Ice hockey career Lopušanová began figure skating on an outdoor pond at the age of two and started playing ice hockey before her fifth birthday. At the age of four, she attended a World Girls Ice Hockey Weekend hosted by the IIHF, prompting her to join a club team. Östersund Arena
Östersund Arena is a multi-purpose venue in Östersund, Sweden. The arena can be used for curling, ice hockey, field hockey, figure skating, gymnastics. The arena opened in 2013, and replaced the Z-hallen for the Östersunds IK ice hockey team. Arena The arena accommodates two ice hockey fields, a gymnasium, a restaurant and an artificially frozen outdoor bandy rink. The stadium is located to the north-west of Östersund near to the Östersund Ski Stadium and the Jämtkraft Arena football stadium. The "A Hall" can accommodate 2,700 spectators for ice hockey games, including approximately 2,100 seats. The attendance record of 2,700 people was set of 24 January 2015 when Östersunds IK played Huddinge IK, and the match ended 2–0 to Östersunds IK. The gymnastics hall is nearly in area and in height. Hilda Svensson
Hilda Svensson (born 24 August 2006) is a Swedish ice hockey forward for HV71 of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) and member of the Sweden women's national ice hockey team. Playing career Svensson made her SDHL debut for HV71 during the 2020–21 season, where she recorded one assist in three games, while on loan from IF Troja-Ljungby. During the 2021–22 season she recorded one goal in five games. During the 2022–23 season, in her first full season with HV71, she was the top scoring junior player in the league and recorded nine goals and 13 assists in 32 games. Following the season she was named SDHL Rookie of the Year. During the 2023–24 season, she recorded seven goals and 16 assists in 32 games. Svensson is committed to play college ice hockey at Ohio State during the 2025–26 season.
