2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the 19th tournament of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men's national basketball teams, held from 25 August to 10 September 2023. The tournament was the second to feature 32 teams and was hosted by multiple nations for the first time in its history—the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia. It was the first World Cup to be hosted in Indonesia, and the second to be hosted in both the Philippines and Japan, both having first hosted the tournament in 1978 FIBA World Championship, 1978 and 2006 FIBA World Championship, 2006, respectively. Serbia Men's National Basketball Team
The Serbia men's national basketball team () represents Serbia in international men's basketball competition, and is controlled by the Basketball Federation of Serbia. Serbia is currently ranked second in the FIBA World Ranking. From 1992 to 2003, the national team played in international tournaments under the name FR Yugoslavia, and from 2003 to 2006, under the name Serbia and Montenegro. Following Montenegro’s declaration of independence in 2006, Serbia is considered sole legal successor. The 1994 FIBA World Championship was the 12th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's national teams. The tournament was hosted by Canada from August 4 to 14, 1994. 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group A
Group A was one of eight groups of the preliminary round of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. It took place from 25 to 29 August 2023 and consisted of Angola, the Philippines, the Dominican Republic, and Italy. Each team played each other once, for a total of three games per team, with all but two games to be played at the Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines. The top two teams advanced to the second round and the bottom two teams qualified for the classification rounds. 2023 United States FIBA Basketball World Cup Team
The United States men's national basketball team competed at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and finished in fourth place. The team held training camp in early August and scheduled five exhibition games before their World Cup opener at the end of the month in Manila. The Americans were 4–1 during group play, qualifying for the final round. However, they lost in the semifinals and then in the bronze medal game, failing to medal for the second consecutive time.
