2023 CFL Season
The 2023 CFL season was the 69th season of modern professional Canadian football. Officially, it was the 65th season of the Canadian Football League. Hamilton hosted the 110th Grey Cup on November 19, 2023. The regular season began on June 8, and ended on October 28, with 18 games played per team over 21 weeks. League business Salary cap According to the new collective bargaining agreement, the 2023 salary cap is set at $5,450,000 (average $121,111 per active roster spot) As per the agreement, the cap is fixed and will not vary with league revenue performance until 2024. The minimum player salary is set at $70,000. Starter ratio Beginning this season, teams are required to start eight National players as opposed to just seven in years prior. 2023 Montreal Alouettes Season
The 2023 Montreal Alouettes season was the 56th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 68th overall. The Alouettes qualified for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season following their week 17 win over the Ottawa Redblacks. The team defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to win their eighth Grey Cup championship. The 2023 CFL season was the third season with Danny Maciocia as the team's general manager, and the first season with a new head coach after both Maciocia and the team's president, Mario Cecchini, stated that a new coach would be hired following Maciocia's interim appointment in the position in 2022. Huskies Stadium
Huskies Stadium is a Canadian football stadium at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, home to the Saint Mary's Huskies. It had a promoted capacity of 9,000 to 11,000 that is achievable via temporary seating, but the actual permanent seating is only 2,000. It was built in 1969 for the 1970 Canada Summer Games. It has hosted many Canadian Interuniversity Sport Atlantic & Uteck Bowl national semi-final football games. On June 11, 2005, the stadium hosted an exhibition game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts to gauge Halifax's public support for a CFL franchise. Grey Cup
The Grey Cup () is both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team playing in the namesake championship of professional Canadian football. The game is contested between the winners of the CFL's East Division (CFL), East and West Division (CFL), West divisional playoffs and is one of Canadian television's largest annual sporting events. Since 2022, the game was held on the third Sunday of November. Bob Dyce
Bob Dyce (born December 3, 1965) is a Canadian football coach who is the head coach for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was formerly the interim head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is a Grey Cup champion after winning as an assistant coach with the Roughriders in 2013 and with the Redblacks in 2016. He attended the University of Manitoba where he played wide receiver with the Manitoba Bisons. Paul LaPolice (born June 12, 1970) is an American former gridiron football, football coach who is a broadcaster for The Sports Network, TSN. He has served as the head coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Danny Maciocia (born May 26, 1967) is a Canadian football coach who is the current general manager of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
