2023–24 South Dakota Coyotes Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 South Dakota Coyotes men's basketball team represented the University of South Dakota in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Coyotes were led by second-year head coach Eric Peterson, and played their home games at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, South Dakota as members of the Summit League. Previous season The Coyotes finished the 2022–23 season 12–19, 7–11 in Summit League play to finish in sixth place. The Coyotes would lose to North Dakota State in the quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament. Eric Peterson (basketball)
Eric Allen Peterson (born April 17, 1983) is an American basketball coach who is the current head coach of the South Dakota Coyotes men's basketball team. Coaching career While still in college, Peterson served as an assistant coach at La Crescent High School in La Crescent, Minnesota while also working with AAU teams in Wisconsin. In 2005, Peterson began his college coaching career as an assistant at Williston State, before moving on to join the coaching staff at Minnesota State–Moorhead from 2009 to 2011. He'd return to Williston State, this time as an assistant coach and athletic director. In 2012, he'd be elevated to the head coaching position where he'd guide the Tetons to a 52–15 mark including at 2013 Region XIII championship and 2014 Mon-Dak Conference, while also earning coach of the year honors at the regional and conference levels too. North Sioux City is a city in Union County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 3,042 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Sioux City metropolitan area. The 2023–24 DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team represented DePaul University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by third-year head coach Tony Stubblefield for the first 18 games of the season. Sanford Pentagon
The Sanford Pentagon (colloquially known as The Pentagon) is an indoor arena located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Pentagon opened in September 2013 and has a seating capacity of 3,250 spectators. It hosts the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League. 2023–24 UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by third-year head coach Matt Figger and played home games at UTRGV Fieldhouse as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They finished the season 6–25, 2–18 in WAC play to finish in eleventh place, and thus did not qualify to play in the WAC Tournament. This was UTRGV's last season in the WAC, and also Figger's last as head coach. UTRGV announced on March 19, 2024 that it had fired Figger, who left with a 29–65 record after three seasons. Less than a week later, UTRGV announced that it would join the Southland Conference effective that July.
