2023–24 Namibia Premiership
The 2023–24 Namibia Premiership was the 2nd season of the Namibia Premiership, the top-tier football league in Namibia. African Stars won the championship for the second consecutive season. African Stars player Willy Stephanus and Rewaldo Prins of Khomas NAMPOL were the league's top scorers with sixteen goals each. The new clubs promoted for the season were: Okakarara Young Warriors from the Northwest division, Eeshoke Chula Chula FC from the North East division, and Khomas NAMPOL FC from the Southern region. Tura Magic FC were renamed Ongos Valley FC prior to the start of the season. Namibia Premiership
The Namibia Premiership, or the Debmarine Namibia Premiership for sponsorship reasons, is the highest level of domestic association football in Namibia. It operates under the auspices of the Namibia Football Association. History After ongoing financial and organizational problems with the Namibia Premier League (NPL), the Namibia Football Association expelled the league and founded a new top-flight league themselves following the 2018–19 season. Despite a planned debut season in 2021, the league finally played its first season in 2022-23 after securing major sponsorship funding. Karasburg
Karasburg (, old name , literally "carst spring") is a town in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia and the district capital of the Karasburg electoral constituency. It lies at the heart of the southern Namibian sheep farming industry. Karasburg had a population of 6,621 people in 2023. Geography There are three main routes that lead into Karasburg. From Grünau in the west, Onseepkans in the south and the B3 national road that leads to the South African border in the east. Gobabis (, ) is a town in eastern Namibia. It is the regional capital of the Omaheke Region, and the district capital of the Gobabis electoral constituency. Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay (; ; ) is a city in Namibia and the name of the bay on which it lies. It is the List of cities in Namibia, second largest city in Namibia and the largest coastal city in the country. The city covers an area of of land. The bay is a haven for sea vessels due to its natural deep-water harbour, protected by the Pelican Point sand spit, which is the only natural harbour of any size along the country's coast. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters also draw large numbers of southern right whales, attracting whalers and fishing vessels. A succession of colonists developed the location and resources of this strategic harbour settlement. The harbour's value about the sea route around the Cape of Good Hope had caught the attention of world powers since it was discovered by the outside world in 1485. Okahandja United FC is a Namibian association football club based in Okahandja. The club currently competes in the Namibia Premier Football League, the top level of football in Namibia. History In 2018, under its original name of Okahandja Military School FC, the club defeated African Motto FC from Oshakati in the playoffs to be promoted to the Namibia Premier League. In mid-September 2018, the club was purchased by former Namibian international Johannes Hindjou and given its current name. Originally, the club was denied promotion to the Premier League because previously the club was owned by the Namibian Defence Force, the same ownership as another NPL club, Mighty Gunners. After the club was sold to Hindjou, it was in compliance with the Namibia Football Association's league statutes and was cleared to participate. Okahandja
Okahandja is a city of 45,159 inhabitants in Otjozondjupa Region, central Namibia, and the district capital of the Okahandja electoral constituency. It is known as the ''Garden Town of Namibia''. It is located 70 km north of Windhoek on the B1 road. It was founded around 1800, by two local groups, the Herero and the Nama. History Okahandja means ''the place where two rivers'' (Okakango and Okamita) ''flow into each other to form one wide one'' in Otjiherero.
