2022–23 Western Carolina Catamounts Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Western Carolina Catamounts men's basketball team represented Western Carolina University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Catamounts, led by second-year head coach Justin Gray, played their home games at the Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, North Carolina, as members of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 17–14, 10–8 in SoCon play to finish in fourth place. In the SoCon tournament, they defeated East Tennessee in the quarterfinals before narrowly losing in overtime to Furman in the semifinal round. The Catamounts were invited to the CBI tournament, where they were defeated by eventual champions Charlotte in the first round. Justin Gray (basketball)
Justin Gray (born March 31, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player and current head coach of the men's basketball team at Coastal Carolina. He was the head coach of Western Carolina from 2021 to 2024, and before that an assistant coach at Winthrop from 2019 to 2021. Gray played professionally overseas from 2006 to 2018. High school After playing his first three years at West Charlotte High School, Gray played his final year of high school basketball at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, a prep basketball program that has produced NBA players such Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony. Raeford is a city in Hoke County, North Carolina, United States. Its population was 4,559 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Hoke County. History John McRae and A.A. Williford operated a turpentine distillery and general store, respectively. Each took a syllable from his name and came up with the name Raeford for the post office they established. Spring Lake, North Carolina
Spring Lake is a town in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. The 2010 census recorded the population at 11,964 people, with an estimated population in 2019 of 12,005. History The current name of the town first appeared around 1923 for a spring fed lake, which probably formed when the railroad was built about 1860. The community grew slowly until World War II. At its incorporation, the town selected the post office on Main Street as the center of town.
