2022–23 West Virginia Mountaineers Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball team represented West Virginia University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by first-year head coach Dawn Plitzuweit, played their home games at WVU Coliseum and are members of the Big 12 Conference. Previous season The Mountaineers finished the season 15–15, 7–11 in Big 12 play to finish in seventh place. In the Big 12 Tournament, they defeated TCU in the first round, before losing to Iowa State in the quarterfinals. They were not invited to the NCAA tournament or the WNIT. Dawn Plitzuweit
Dawn Plitzuweit (; born October 31, 1972) is an American basketball coach, currently the head women's basketball coach at the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's basketball, University of Minnesota. Playing career Plitzuweit attended Michigan Technological University, Michigan Tech between 1990–1995, but did not play basketball during the 1991–92 season. In her freshman year she started all 29 games. Her sophomore year, 1992–93, played in all 33 games leading Michigan Tech to a record of 30–3 scoring 12.4 points a game, 2nd on the team. Her Junior year she, once again, played in all 28 games. Her senior year she played in 29 of the 30 games that year and would finish her career with a playing record of 99–22. The Arizona Wildcats women's basketball program is the official women's basketball program at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
