2022–23 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2022–23 West Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in September 2022 and ended with the 2023 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament in March 2023. This was the 72nd season for WCC men's basketball, and the 34th under its current name of "West Coast Conference". The conference was founded in 1952 as the California Basketball Association, became the West Coast Athletic Conference in 1956, and dropped the word "Athletic" in 1989. This was the final WCC season for BYU, which joins the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2023. Head coaches Coaching changes Two new head coaches will lead their team in the WCC during the 2022-23 season. NCAA Division I
NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest division of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. D-I schools include the major collegiate athletic powers, with large budgets, more elaborate facilities and more athletic scholarships than Division II and Division III as well as many smaller schools committed to the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Andrew Matthew Timme ( ; born September 9, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He was a three-time consensus All-American selection, including first-team honors as a senior in 2023. Rasir Zias Bolton (born September 27, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Spartak Subotica of the Serbian League (KLS) and the ABA League. UCF Knights
The UCF Knights are the sport, athletic teams that represent the University of Central Florida in unincorporated Orange County, Florida near Orlando, Florida, Orlando. The Knights participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I (NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, FBS for football) as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Houston Cougars are the athletic teams representing the University of Houston. Informally, the Houston Cougars have also been referred to as the Coogs, UH, or simply Houston. Houston's nickname was suggested by early physical education instructor of the university and former head football coach, John R. Herbert Joseph Sendek Jr. (born February 22, 1963) is an American college basketball coach who is the current men's basketball head coach at Santa Clara. Early life Herbert Joseph Sendek Jr. grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Penn Hills High School. San Francisco Dons Men's Basketball
The San Francisco Dons men's basketball team represents the University of San Francisco in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The Dons compete in the West Coast Conference, where they have won sixteen regular season championships and one conference tournament championship. The current head coach is Chris Gerlufsen. Chris Gerlufsen (born September 16, 1976) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the San Francisco Dons men's basketball team. He served as the acting head coach for Hawaii during their 2019–20 season while head coach Eran Ganot took a leave of medical absence, compiling an 8–5 record during that period.
