2022–23 Utah Utes Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Utah Runnin' Utes men's basketball team represented the University of Utah during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by second-year head coach Craig Smith. They played their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah as members of the Pac-12 Conference. The Utes finished the season 17–14, 10–10 in Pac-12 play to finish in 7th place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Stanford. Previous season The Utes finished the 2021–22 season 11–20, 4–16 in Pac-12 play to finish in 11th place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Washington. Craig Smith (basketball, Born 1972)
Craig Francis Smith (born December 14, 1972) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head coach for the Utah Utes men's team of the Big 12 Conference until 2025. He served as an assistant for Tim Miles at four schools – Mayville State, North Dakota State, Colorado State, and Nebraska. Smith was also the head coach at Mayville State from 2004 to 2007, at South Dakota from 2014 to 2018, and at Utah State from 2018 to 2021. Early life and education Born in Stephen, Minnesota, Smith graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education and Northern State University in South Dakota with a master's degree in education in 1999. The UCF Knights men's basketball team represents The University of Central Florida, located in unincorporated Orange County, Florida near Orlando, United States. The BYU Cougars men's basketball team represents Brigham Young University in NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA Division I basketball play. It currently competes in the Big 12 Conference. Gavin B. Baxter (born October 16, 1997) is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball for the BYU Cougars and the Utah Utes. The California Baptist Lancers men's basketball team represents California Baptist University in the Western Athletic Conference. The team made the jump into Division I basketball on July 1, 2018. They are currently led by head coach Rick Croy and play at the Fowler Events Center, which opened in 2017 and replaced the Van Dyne Gym.
