2022–23 UCF Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 UCF Knights men's basketball team represented the University of Central Florida during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Knights compete as members of the American Athletic Conference. The Knights, in the program's 54th season of basketball, were led by seventh-year head coach Johnny Dawkins and played their home games at the Addition Financial Arena on the university's main campus in Orlando, Florida. They finished the season 18–14, 8–10 in AAC Play to finish in 7th place. They defeated SMU in the First Round of the AAC Tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Memphis. The Knights received an at-large bid to the NIT, where they defeated Florida in the first round before losing in the second round to Oregon. Johnny Dawkins
Johnny Earl Dawkins Jr. (born September 28, 1963) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the UCF men's basketball team. From 2008 to 2016, he was the head coach of Stanford. He was a two-time All-American and national player of the year as a senior in 1986 while at Duke from 1982 to 1986. Dawkins subsequently played nine seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the San Antonio Spurs (1986–1989), Philadelphia 76ers (1989–1994), and Detroit Pistons (1994–1995). From 1998 to 2008, he served as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, Duke. Playing career College Dawkins was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He played basketball at Mackin Catholic High School in Washington, D.C. before enrolling at Duke University. Temple Owls Men's Basketball
The Temple Owls men's basketball team represents Temple University in the sport of basketball. The Owls compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference (The American). Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball
The Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team represents the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, United States. The team currently competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division. Buffalo began play in 1915 and joined the MAC in 1998. Darius Perry
Darius Perry (born March 13, 1999) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Zastal Zielona Góra in the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He has previously played college basketball for the UCF Knights of the American Athletic Conference (AAC), and the Louisville Cardinals. High school career Perry played basketball for Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Sandy Springs, Georgia as a freshman. For his sophomore season, he transferred to Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, and helped his team capture the Class 6A state title. As a junior, Perry averaged 15 points and 4.3 assists per game. Eufaula, Alabama
Eufaula is the largest city in Barbour County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census the city's population was 13,137. History The site along the Chattahoochee River that is now modern-day Eufaula was occupied by three Muscogee Creek tribes, including the Eufaulas. 2022 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 10–13, 2022, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. All games of the tournament were televised by ESPN Inc. The winner of the tournament, the Houston Cougars, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA tournament. Seeds Teams were seeded by conference record (tiebreakers were not required as no teams had identical conference records). The top five teams received byes to the quarterfinals. With the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States still ongoing and the possibility of cancelled games, teams were required to play a minimum of 75% of the average number of conference games played in order to be seeded by winning percentage for the conference tournament; those with less games would be seeded below those meeting the minimum.
