2022–23 Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Tennessee Volunteers basketball team represented the University of Tennessee during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by eighth-year head coach Rick Barnes, and played their home games at Thompson–Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 22–9, 11–7 in SEC play to finish in a tie for fourth place. As the No. 5 seed in the SEC tournament, they defeated Ole Miss before losing to Missouri in the quarterfinals. Rick Barnes
Richard Barnes (born July 17, 1954) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach at the University of Tennessee. He is also known for coaching at the University of Texas from 1998 to 2015, taking the team to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 16 of his 17 seasons—including 14 straight from 1999 to 2012—as well as a Final Four appearance in 2003. Barnes also previously coached at George Mason University, Providence College, and Clemson University. He has an overall record of 28–26 (.519) in the NCAA tournament (including 19–16 while at Texas). Early life Barnes was born on July 17, 1954, and grew up in Hickory, North Carolina. 2022 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 Southeastern Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the 2021–22 Southeastern Conference men's basketball season, held on March 9–13, 2022 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The winner, the Tennessee Volunteers, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA tournament. Seeds All 14 SEC teams participated in the tournament. Brandon Xavier Huntley-Hatfield (born August 6, 2003) is an American college basketball player currently in the transfer portal. He previously played for the NC State Wolfpack, the Louisville Cardinals, and the Tennessee Volunteers. High school career Huntley-Hatfield first played high school basketball for Clarksville Academy in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he averaged 11.4 points and six rebounds per game as a freshman. Kennedy Collier Chandler (born September 16, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for Raptors 905 of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Tennessee Volunteers. He was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top point guards in the 2021 class. The 2021–22 Longwood Lancers men's basketball team represented Longwood University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
