The 2022–23 PHF season was the eighth and final ice hockey season of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) – known as the National Women's Hockey League during its first six seasons (2015–2021). League business The PHF decided not to hold a draft this year. Montreal expansion The long-expected Montreal Force expansion franchise was announced in July and the team name, colors and logo were revealed in August. The team will not have an official home arena during the 2022–23 season but will instead play home games across the province of Quebec, with expected stops in Montreal, Gatineau, Quebec City, Rimouski, Rivière-du-Loup, Saint-Jérôme, and Sept-Îles, Quebec, among others. International players A record twenty international players signed as roster players in the PHF for the 2022–23 season. Premier Hockey Federation
The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) was a women's professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from March 2015 until June 2023. The league was established in 2015 as the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), comprising four league-owned teams. Over time, some teams gained independent ownership and the number of teams grew to seven; teams during the league's final season in 2022–23 PHF season, 2022–23 included the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale (PHF), Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Minnesota Whitecaps, Montreal Force, and Toronto Six. The Isobel Cup was awarded annually to the league playoff champion. Janine Weber (born 19 June 1991) is an Austrian professional ice hockey player and member of the Austria women's national ice hockey team, Austrian national team who mostly recently played in the now defunct Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Connecticut Whale (PHF), Connecticut Whale. Lenka Slezak Serdar (born 21 July 1997) is a Czech-American ice hockey player and member of the Czech national team. She was signed with the Connecticut Whale of the now defunct Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) for the 2022–23 season. Serdar represented the Czech Republic at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship and in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Leah Lum (born May 12, 1996), also known by the Chinese name Lin Qiqi (), is a professional Canadian ice hockey forward and member of China women's national ice hockey team, currently playing for the Montreal Victoire of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Janka Hlinka or Janka Hlinková (born 31 October 1995) is a Slovak-American ice hockey forward and member of the Slovak national team, currently playing in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) with ŠKP Bratislava. She previously played in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Connecticut Whale. Taylor Samantha Baker (born July 30, 1997) is a Hungarian-Canadian ice hockey defender and member of the Hungarian national team. Buffalo Beauts
The Buffalo Beauts were a professional ice hockey team in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). They played in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo, at the Northtown Center. The Beauts were established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), rebranded as the PHF in 2021.
