2022–23 Oklahoma Sooners Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball team represented the University of Oklahoma during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by head coach Porter Moser in his second year and played their home games at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma, as members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 5–13 in Big 12 Play to tie for 9th (last) place. They were defeated by rivals Oklahoma State in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament. Previous season The Sooners finished the 2021–22 season 19–16, 7–11 in Big 12 Play to finish in eighth place. They defeated Baylor in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament before losing in the semifinals to Texas Tech. They were one of the last four teams not selected for the NCAA tournament. Porter Moser
Porter Andrew Moser (born August 24, 1968) is a college basketball coach who is the current head coach of the University of Oklahoma men's basketball team. Moser spent 10 years (2011–2021) at Loyola University Chicago, helping lead the Ramblers to the Final Four in 2018. Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Moser attended and played varsity basketball at Benet Academy, and then Creighton University. Moser previously held the head coaching position at Illinois State (2003–2007) and Arkansas-Little Rock (2000–2003). Prior to being hired at Loyola, Moser was an assistant coach at Saint Louis under Rick Majerus for the 2007-08 season, and the associate head coach from 2008-11. 2022 National Invitation Tournament
The 2022 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I men's college basketball teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA tournament. The tournament began on March 15 and ended on March 31. The first three rounds were played on campuses, with the semifinal and championship final played at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Participants Teams and pairings for the 2022 NIT were released by the NIT Committee at 9 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, March 13, on ESPNU. It returned to its previous 32-team field for the first time since 2019. In 2021, Memphis won the NIT Title. Loyola Marymount Lions Men's Basketball
The Loyola Marymount Lions men's basketball team represents Loyola Marymount University in men's college basketball. The team competes in the West Coast Conference. The team has played its home game at Gersten Pavilion since 1981. Loyola Marymount's last appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 1990, where they advanced to the Elite Eight. They lost to eventual national champion UNLV.
