2022–23 Northern Illinois Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team represented Northern Illinois University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies were led by second-year head coach Rashon Burno. They played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). As the seventh seed in the MAC tournament they lost to Kent State in the first round to finish the season 13–19 and 9–9 in the MAC. Previous season The Huskies finished the 2021–22 season 9–21, 6–14 in MAC play, to finish a tie for ninth place. They failed to qualify for the MAC tournament. Rashon Burno
Rashon Burno (born February 3, 1978) is an American basketball coach (basketball), coach who is the head coach of the Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team. Playing career Burno played at St. Anthony High School (New Jersey), St. Anthony High School in New Jersey under Bob Hurley, where he was a part of two national championship teams his junior and senior years. He played collegiately at DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball, DePaul under Pat Kennedy and was part of the Blue Demons' 2000 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 2000 NCAA tournament squad. Coaching career Burno got his coaching start as the head basketball coach at Marmion Academy from 2007 to 2010 where he also served as an economics and physical education teacher before landing his first college coaching job as an assistant at Towson Tigers men's basketball, Towson, reuniting with his college head coach Kennedy. Tennessee State Tigers Basketball
The Tennessee State Tigers basketball team represents Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The school's team currently competes in the NCAA Division I's Ohio Valley Conference. They play their home games at the Gentry Complex and are led by sixth-year head coach Brian "Penny" Collins. While they were a member of the NAIA, they were three time national champions (1957, 1958, 1959). TSU was the first team to win three consecutive basketball national championships at any level of college basketball – a feat only repeated by UCLA (seven straight championships from 1967–1973) and Kentucky State (1970, 1971, 1972).
