2022–23 Niagara Purple Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team represented Niagara University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Purple Eagles, led by fourth-year head coach Greg Paulus, played their home games at the Gallagher Center in Lewiston, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Purple Eagles finished the season 16–15, 10–10 in MAAC play, to finish in a tie for fifth place. They defeated Siena in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament, before falling to top-seeded and eventual champions Iona in the quarterfinals. Previous season The Purple Eagles finished the 2021–22 season 14–16, 9–11 in MAAC play, to finish tied for fifth place. As the No. 5 seed, they were defeated by No. 4 seed Monmouth in the quarterfinals of the MAAC tournament. Greg Paulus
Gregory Russell Paulus (born July 3, 1986) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team. He previously served as an assistant basketball coach for Louisville, Ohio State and George Washington University. Paulus is a former multi-sport athlete, playing college basketball as a point guard on the Duke University men's team and later football at Syracuse University. Biography Greg Paulus was born in Medina, Ohio, and grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, before moving to the Syracuse suburb of Manlius, New York. He has six siblings: David, Matt, Dan, Chris, Mike and Sarah. He was named Gatorade Athlete of the Year due to his accomplishments in football and basketball. Leesburg, FL
Leesburg is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States. As of 2020, the population had exactly 27,000 residents. Leesburg is in central Florida, between Lake Harris and Lake Griffin, at the head of the Ocklawaha River. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lake–Sumter State College and Beacon College are located in Leesburg. History Leesburg was first settled in 1857 by Evander McIver Lee and Susannah Lee. Shortly after Evander purchased his first property in the area, his brother Josiah joined him, purchasing land near Montclair Road. Several of his brothers followed him to the area. One of them, John Calvin Lee, was credited with giving the town its name. The city was incorporated in 1875, and was designated as the county seat of Sumter County for a time.
