2022–23 Marquette Golden Eagles Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Marquette Golden Eagles women's basketball team represented Marquette University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Golden Eagles, led by fourth year head coach Megan Duffy, played their home games at the Al McGuire Center and are members of the Big East Conference. On February 8, 2023, the Golden Eagles defeated the UConn Huskies for the first time in program history, ending an all-time 0-16 losing streak. It was the first time since 1993 that UConn lost two games in a row, ending a 1,083 game streak without back-to-back losses. Previous season The Golden Eagles finished the season at 23–11 and 13–7 in Big East play to finish in fifth place. Megan Duffy
Megan Duffy (born July 13, 1984) is an American women's basketball coach, currently the head coach at Virginia Tech. Previously, she had been the head coach with Marquette, before that the Miami RedHawks women's basketball team, an associate head coach with the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team, George Washington Colonials women's basketball team, an assistant coach with St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team, and a professional basketball player in the WNBA, most recently playing for the New York Liberty. College playing career Duffy was born in Kettering, Ohio. After graduating from Chaminade-Julienne High School, a Catholic high school in Dayton, she attended college at University of Notre Dame and graduated in 2006 with a double major in Psychology and Computer Applications. Trinity High School is a Roman Catholic college preparatory high school for girls located in River Forest, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, it was founded in 1918 by members of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters. Hononegah Community High School is a public high school in Rockton, Illinois and is the only high school comprising Hononegah Community High School District 207. Located between Rockford and the southern border of Wisconsin, the school serves students from the towns of Rockton, Roscoe, Shirland, and parts of South Beloit. Rockton is a village in Winnebago County, Illinois. It is located in the Rock River Valley and is part of the Rockford metropolitan area. Iowa City High School is a public high school in Iowa City, Iowa and is part of the Iowa City Community School District. The present high school was completed as part of the Public Works Projects started by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide jobs. The first classes were held in the fall of 1939. The previous high school building, built in 1909, was converted to a junior high school after the new building opened. It was located where Mercy Medical Plaza now stands.
