2022–23 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. They were led by fourth-year head coach Nell Fortner and played their home games at McCamish Pavilion as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Yellow Jackets finished the season 13–17 overall and 4–14 in ACC play, to finish in a tie for thirteenth place. As the fourteenth seed in the ACC tournament, they lost their first-round matchup with Boston College. They were not invited to the NCAA tournament or the WNIT. Previous season The Yellow Jackets finished the season 21–11 overall and 11–7 in ACC play, to finish in sixth place. Nell Fortner
Nell Fortner (born March 3, 1959) is an American college basketball coach. She is most well known for leading the 2000 Olympics team to a gold medal. She has received numerous awards including the 1997 National Coach of the Year, the 2000 USA Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2008 SEC Coach of the Year. In April 2018, she was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Fortner served as a TV analyst for ESPN from 2001-2004 before returning as the head women's basketball coach at Auburn University. In 2013, she returned to ESPN as a TV analyst. From 2019 to 2025, she was the women's basketball coach at Georgia Tech. Playing career Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Fortner is a graduate of New Braunfels High School where she was an all-state basketball selection and a Parade All-American. The 2021–22 Kansas Jayhawks women's basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Jayhawks were led by seventh-year head coach Brandon Schneider. They played their home games at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas as members of the Big 12 Conference. Kansas made the 2022 NCAA tournament, their first since 2013, losing in the second round to Stanford. Digna Strautmane (born 18 September 1998) is a Latvian professional basketball player. She played college basketball for Syracuse Orange women's basketball, Syracuse and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball, Georgia Tech and has played for the Latvia women's national basketball team, Latvian national team.
