2022–23 Georgetown Hoyas Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hoyas, led by sixth-year head coach Patrick Ewing, were members of the Big East Conference. The Hoyas played their home games at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. They finished the season 7–25, 2–18 in Big East play to finish in last place for the second consecutive year. In the Big East tournament, they lost to Villanova in the opening round. On March 9, 2023, the school fired head coach Patrick Ewing. On March 20, the school named Providence head coach Ed Cooley the team's new head coach. Patrick Ewing
Patrick Aloysius Ewing Sr. (born August 5, 1962) is a Jamaican-American basketball coach and former professional player who is a basketball ambassador for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he played most of his career as the starting center (basketball), center before ending his playing career with brief stints with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic. Ewing is regarded as one of the greatest centers of all time, playing a dominant role in the New York Knicks' 1990s success. 2022 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 Big East men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big East Conference, held March 9–12, 2022, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The winner of the tournament, the Villanova Wildcats, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA tournament. Seeds All 11 Big East schools are scheduled to participate in the tournament. Teams will be seeded by the conference record with tie-breaking procedures to determine the seeds for teams with identical conference records. The top five teams will receive first-round byes. Seeding for the tournament will be determined at the close of the regular conference season. California Baptist Lancers Men's Basketball
The California Baptist Lancers men's basketball team represents California Baptist University in the Western Athletic Conference. The team made the jump into Division I basketball on July 1, 2018. They are currently led by head coach Rick Croy and play at the Fowler Events Center, which opened in 2017 and replaced the Van Dyne Gym. The men's basketball program was ineligible to play in the NCAA Division I Tournament during their transition period, although they were eligible for other tournaments such as the College Basketball Invitational. The 2022-23 season was the first season the Lancers were eligible for the NCAA tournament. The Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball team represents Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The team currently competes in the West division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
