2022–23 Florida Atlantic Owls Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Florida Atlantic Owls men's basketball team represented Florida Atlantic University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Owls were led by fifth-year head coach Dusty May and played their home games at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena in Boca Raton, Florida as members of Conference USA. The Owls finished the season 35–4, 18–2 in C-USA play to win the regular season championship. They defeated Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, and UAB to win the C-USA tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 9 seed in the East region. Dusty May
Dusty Allan May (born December 30, 1976) is an American college basketball coach, currently the Wolverines men's basketball head coach at the University of Michigan. He was the head coach for Florida Atlantic University from 2018 to 2024, leading the Owls to the NCAA Final Four in 2023. May was hired by Michigan in 2024, replacing Juwan Howard. After graduating from Eastern Greene High School in Bloomfield, Indiana in 1995, May served as a student manager at Indiana University from 1996 to 2000, under legendary Hoosiers head coach Bob Knight. Lamont Butler
Lamont Butler Jr. (born June 9, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He previously played for the San Diego State Aztecs, whom he led to a berth in the 2023 Final Four. Early life and high school career Butler grew up in and Moreno Valley, California and attended Riverside Polytechnic High School. 2022 College Basketball Invitational
The 2022 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) was a single-elimination, fully-bracketed men’s college basketball postseason tournament featuring 16 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams not selected to participate in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The tournament began on March 19 and concluded on March 23. Semifinal and championship games aired on ESPN2. The tournament was won by UNC Wilmington. In 2021, CBI was held for the first time in Daytona Beach, Florida, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, the tournament had been held on campus sites. The 2021–22 Southern Miss Golden Eagles basketball team represented the University of Southern Mississippi during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by third-year head coach Jay Ladner, and played their home games at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as members of Conference USA (C-USA).
