2022–23 Drake Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by fifth-year head coach Darian DeVries, played their home games at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). They finished the regular season 27–7, 15–5 in MVC play to finish in second place. In the MVC tournament, they defeated Murray State, Southern Illinois, and Bradley to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where they were defeated by Miami (FL) in the first round. Previous season The Bulldogs finished the 2021–22 season 22–9, 13–5 in MVC play to finish in a tie for second place. Darian DeVries
Darian Dale DeVries (born April 7, 1975) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head men's basketball coach at Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana. He was previously the head coach at Drake Bulldogs men's basketball, Drake University from 2018 to 2024 and at West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia during the 2024–25 season. Early life DeVries was born and raised in Aplington, Iowa. The oldest of five siblings, he played basketball and football at Aplington High School for three years before graduating from the merged Aplington-Parkersburg High School in 1993. 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament, popularly referred to as "Arch Madness", was a postseason men's basketball tournament that completed the 2021–22 season in the Missouri Valley Conference. The tournament was held at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, during March 3–6, 2022. The winner, the Loyola Ramblers, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA tournament. Seeds Teams were seeded by conference record, with ties broken by the overall record in conference games played between the tied teams, then (if necessary) by comparison of records between the tying institutions versus the top team in the standings (and continuing from top to bottom of standings, as necessary, with the team having the better record against that team receiving the better seed).
