2022–23 CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition
The 2022–23 CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition was the 10th edition of South Africa's provincial Twenty20 cricket tournament. The tournament ran from September 2022 to April 2023, with 16 teams competing in three divisions. Western Province were the defending champions. Central Gauteng won the competition, topping the Top 6 table. Competition format The 16 teams were divided into three divisions: a top division named "Top 6", and two lower divisions, Pools A and B. Teams in Pools A and B played each other team in their group once in a round-robin format, whilst teams in the Top 6 league play each other team in their group twice. Matches were played using a Twenty20 format. The winner of the Top 6 league was crowned the Champions. The tournament ran concurrently with the 2022–23 CSA Women's Provincial Programme, with matches played either the day before or day after the corresponding encounter between two teams in the one-day tournament. Eastern Province Women's Cricket Team
The Eastern Province women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for parts of the South African region of Eastern Cape. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. History Eastern Province Women first appeared in the Simon Trophy in the 1953–54 season, playing in the tournament until the 1963–64 season. They next appeared in the Women's Inter-Provincial Trophy in 1996–97, and have played in the tournament ever since. Their best finish came in the 2003–04 season, when they reached the final, but lost to Boland by 64 runs. They currently compete in the second tier of the competition. The CSA Women's T20 Challenge, previously known as the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition, is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in the 2012–13 season, and currently sees sixteen teams competing. Western Province are the most successful side in the history of the competition, with seven title wins. Central Gauteng are the current holders, winning the 2022–23 tournament. History The tournament began in the 2012–13 season, running alongside the CSA Women's Provincial League. Northern Cape Women's Cricket Team
The Northern Cape women's cricket team, previously known as Griqualand West women's cricket team, is the women's representative cricket team for the South African province of Northern Cape. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. History The side first competed in the South African domestic system in 1951–52, playing in the Simon Trophy as Griqualand West. They competed in that tournament for two seasons, before not playing until they joined the Caltrate Inter-Provincial Tournament in 1997–98. They have competed in the tournament ever since, but have never made it to the knockout stages. In 2015, the side was renamed Northern Cape, bringing the name into line with the name of the province. The KwaZulu-Natal Inland women's cricket team, also known as the Hollywoodbets Tuskers, is the women's representative cricket team for part of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, based primarily in Pietermaritzburg. The Easterns women's cricket team, also known as Eastern Storm is the women's representative cricket team for the South African region of East Rand. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. History Easterns Women first appeared in the 1997–98 season of the Caltrate Inter-Provincial Tournament, although the full results for the tournament are unrecorded. They have competed in every season of the tournament since, with their best finish coming in the 2017–18, when they qualified for the knockout rounds and finished 7th overall. In 2019–20, they finished top of their group in the competition, setting up a promotion play-off match against Border, but the match was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Border were promoted by virtue of their better group stage record. The Kei women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team based in the South African city of Mthatha. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge.
