2022 World Athletics U20 Championships – Men's 100 Metres
The men's 100 metres at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships was held at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia on 1 and 2 August 2022. Originally, 78 athletes from 51 countries entered to the competition, however, only 63 of them participated. Records U20 standing records prior to the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships were as follows: *Mark pending ratification Results Round 1 Round 1 took place on 1 August, with the 63 athletes involved being split into 8 heats, 7 heats of 8 and 1 of 7 athletes. Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero
The Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero is a football stadium, also used for athletics, concerts, and rugby sevens, in Cali, Colombia. The stadium is named to honor the poet Pascual Guerrero. The stadium and the sports complex that surrounds it are one of the finest and most modern sports complexes in Latin America, and led to references of Cali as the "Sports Capital of America". The "Pascual", as Cali's inhabitants usually call the stadium, replaced the now defunct ''Estadio Galilea'' which was located in the Versailles neighbourhood, where the first national athletics competition was held in 1928. Marek Zakrzewski
Marek Zakrzewski (born 18 December 2005) is a Polish track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. Career A product of the Young Athlete Academy in Słupsk, Zakrewski was selected to compete at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in August 2022, aged 16 years-old. Earlier that summer he won gold at the 2022 European Athletics U18 Championships in the 100 metres. In 2023, Zakrzewski completed a double with gold medals in both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships aged 17 years-old. He set a new personal best time of 10.25 seconds for the 100 metres. He set a new personal best of 23.64 in winning the 200 metres. He was the first man to do the sprint double in the competitions since Darren Campbell in 1991. Ronal Longa (born 30 June 2004) is a Colombian track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter. He is the Colombian U20 and U23 national record holder over 100 metres. Career Longa became only the fifth junior athlete to break the 10-second barrier for the 100 metres, and set a new national senior record time of 9.99 seconds to win the bronze medal at the South American Athletics Championships, in São Paulo in July 2023.
